Lexy's Danes is named after my #1 most precious person in the whole entire world, my daughter Lexy. I couldn't be more proud of her & I love her with all my heart & soul. She has graduated with honors and now has an online portfolio to assist her advancement in the theatre industry. Besides my husband Mike, my Danes are the next most precious people in the world to me, that's why I thought it fitting to put Lexy & Dane together. Anyway, to start with, we love dogs. My husband got me hooked on Danes with all the stories he told me about the 3 silly Danes (Duke, Duchess & Prince), he used to have years ago when he lived in California. I have lived with dogs or some type of cuddly animal all my life but the Dane has to be the best by far. I started researching the Dane a few years ago on the Internet, and reading numerous books and haven't stopped since. The Dane to me is the most wonderful, amazing, and loving family dog I have ever had the pleasure of being owned by. LOL I completed my Veterinary Assistant course in Jan 03 and learned quite a bit about animals, especially dogs. If I don't know the answer, I will research it until I find the answer by consulting my vet that I trust completely, talk with other breeders, read more books or just talk with other Dane Lovers. One way or the other I find the answer. I am always learning something new everyday. We all enjoy living in upstate New York and my babies thoroughly enjoy the 5 acres they have to run and play around on. We have fenced in our yard for our doggies with a 6ft high wooden fence and they even have their own 30' x 50' climate controlled doghouse with a TV to do as they please, that's if they are not running around the house. In our house, we have couches, a king size bed and lots of warm blankets so they can pick and choose where they would like to lay down and relax. LOL All our babies are very special to us and we try to spoil them as much as possible. I am a member of a wonderful local all breed club (North Country Kennel Club), which helps with training, showing & socializing. One day I would like to have the time to devote to Therapy Dog training. To me, there is nothing more satisfying than helping put a smile on peoples faces. Maybe one day you will see me in the show ring but for now I want to pursue Therapy Dog Training. We occasionally have Puppies and Adult Danes available. Temperament and good health is our top priority. I don't crop my Danes ears. Everyone has their own opinion about this subject, but I feel it's cosmetic surgery and totally unnecessary, especially since AKC now accepts the Dane for showing purposes with cropped or un-cropped ears. We work with the local dog pound and s.p.c.a. when it comes to Danes that happen to show up at their establishments. We adopt them so they don't have to live locked up without any human affection. We retrain them, and bring them back to good health if needed so we can find them a forever loving home . My daughter says I am obsessed with Danes and I guess I am. I believe everyone would agree, "Once you go Dane, your life is never the same".
I
welcome everyone to our home to
meet all our crazy guys & gals. (Just be kind enough to call or email
first). My big babies love meeting new people. But whatever you do,
don't wear white clothes. White clothes seem to be a Dane magnet for
paw painting. LOL If you have any questions or would like to share your dog stories please don't hesitate to contact me. Last Updated: Thursday, July 03, 2008 06:47:52 PM |
